What To Believe … and Not Believe
So many versions of reality to choose from! I’m amazed just looking at my screen, which to choose from. And forget about tuning into a newscast! That’s almost like committing reality suicide, being completely held hostage by whomever it is that’s calling themselves the pundit, commentator, influencer, or, gulp, reporter.
And so I’ve grown to trust my instincts more than ever. A safe, reliable source of what’s true, what’s important, and what means the most to me in life. Of course I do this after glimpsing as much as I can stomach from the sources I have chosen to rely on. One from a conservative publication, another one from the liberal side, a wee bit of social, a smidgen of YouTube — and then I walk away — listen to the birds, put my sights on the clouds above, the stars if they’re out, the moon, the sun, the countless signs of nature in whatever quadrant my senses rest … and breathe.
Because it’s a necessary thing, making a decision. Not every second of every hour. But for important events. And it’s come to the point in my search for a contented life that I do make important decisions, instead of running away, shirking, or saying decisions are for other folks, not me. There was a time, many moons ago, when i wish I were a fortune teller. Sometimes I cast the coins and got advice from the I Ching. But those days are long gone.
And so I tune inward, breathe, and rely on my instincts. This is the reward of having done “the work” that’s called upon for a clear head, an open heart, a flexible mind. I’m ready!
Of course when November rolls around and I approach the ballot box, I’ll try to be as confident a I feel writing this. Won’t you too?
We Are One.
